1.   Director of the Center for the Study of Religion and Culture (CSRC), Jan 2009 – now

2.   Executive Secretary for the Center of Language and Culture (in 2006 became the Center for the Study of Religion and Culture) of UIN Jakarta, 2000-2008.

3.   Lecturer at UIN Jakarta from March 1999 - present. 

4.   Global research coordinator for “Islamic Philanthropy for Social Justice in Muslim Societies”, from 2002-January 2004, State Islamic University Jakarta, funded by the Ford Foundation. The research was done in six countries: Egypt, Indonesia, India, Tanzania, Turkey and the UK.

5.   Editor of Journal KULTUR, the Indonesian Journal for Muslim Cultures, 2000-2003, and 2009.

 

Research Experience

1.   Research and seminar on Faith-based community foundation in Indonesia on the occasion of Senior International Fellowship Program held by the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society, CUNY, New York, October-November 2009.

2.   Library and Archival Research on the History of Islamic Philanthropy in Indonesia, located in the Netherlands and hosted by and being a research fellow of the International Institute of Asian Studies (IIAS), February-March 2005. The research was funded by the Ford Foundation.

3.   PhD fieldwork in Indonesia, hosted by the center for the study of religion and cultures, State Islamic University Jakarta, July-September 2006, and funded by the AusAid and TRIPS travel scholarship from the faculty of Arts, the University of Melbourne.

4.   PhD fieldwork in Indonesia, August-October 2005, hosted by the center for the study of religion and culture UIN Jakarta, and funded by the Asia Institute, the University of Melbourne.
